Kathmandu – A Chinese man has been arrested in Kathmandu for running an electronics business without proper permits or tax records. Police raided a five-story building in Purano Sinamangal on July 15 after receiving a tip.
The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office stated that the suspect, 38-year-old Yu Wang from China, was renting the building and operating an unregistered electronics business.
Police found raw materials and finished products, including laptop parts, batteries, CCTV cameras, and other electronic items. The business had no proper invoices or tax records, leading to accusations of tax evasion.
The seized goods are worth around Rs. 21.9 million. Yu Wang has been handed over to the Department of Revenue Investigation for further legal action.
Items found during the raid included:
Unfinished laptop batteries
Ready-to-use batteries from brands like HP, Dell, Acer, and Lenovo
CCTV cameras and accessories
Repair tools like screwdrivers
Other electronic materials like Wi-Fi antennas and smartwatch parts
