Calgary, Canada, The Nepalese Community Society of Calgary (NCSC) successfully organized the 4th Nepali Mela at Prairie Winds Park, Calgary, celebrating Nepal’s rich cultural diversity and showcasing the vibrant traditions of the Nepali community within Calgary’s multicultural landscape. The event attracted thousands of community members and visitors who enjoyed cultural performances, food, exhibitions, and a colorful multicultural parade.

The Nepalese Literary Society of Calgary (NLSC) proudly participated in the Mela, reaffirming its commitment to preserving and promoting Nepali language, literature, and literary heritage in Canada. At its exhibition booth, NLSC displayed a diverse collection of Nepali books, literary publications, and other literary materials, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the richness of Nepali literature and encouraging reading, writing, and cultural engagement among community members of all ages.
Representing NLSC at the event were President Ramesh Lamichhane, Vice President Laxmi Lamsal Khanal, Secretary Rudra Dahal, Treasurer Sudharas Timilsina, and members Nabin Poudel and Pawan Bhushal. Board of Directors Deepak Dhakal and Naveen Subba, along with past presidents Bhim Lal Aryal, Keshab Mohan Adhikari, and Kusum Gyawali, also attended the event, demonstrating the society’s unity and continued commitment to promoting Nepali literature and culture in Canada.

A large number of Life Members and General Members of NLSC also enthusiastically participated in the multicultural parade, proudly representing the literary community alongside other Nepali organizations. Their active involvement highlighted NLSC’s growing contribution to preserving Nepal’s literary identity while strengthening cultural ties within Calgary’s diverse community.
The NLSC exhibition booth became a vibrant gathering space where visitors interacted with members of society, explored Nepali literary works, and discussed the importance of preserving the Nepali language and literary traditions for future generations. Many visitors expressed their appreciation for the society’s efforts and emphasized the need to establish a Nepali-language library in Calgary that represents the literary works of Nepal’s diverse ethnic and linguistic communities. Such an initiative, they noted, would help connect more Nepalis with their language, culture, and the Nepalese Literary Society of Calgary.
