Kathmandu – With the aim of promoting students’ skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, and Coding, Skillsup, in collaboration with Neema Education Foundation and STEMpedia, organized the Codeavour 7.0 National Competition. The competition was held on Monday, Magh 26, at Anupam Foodland in Battisputali, Kathmandu.

Over 300 students from more than 50 schools and colleges across the country, aged between 7 and 18 years, participated in the competition and presented technology-based innovative solutions. Under the main theme “Technology for a Healthy Future,” around 100 projects were exhibited.

The competition was conducted across three distinct tracks. In the first track, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, students presented AI and coding projects addressing real-world problems aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In the second track, Wellness Wave AI–Robo Challenge, robots built using Quarky kits performed tasks such as delivering vaccines and rescuing patients in simulated health crisis scenarios.

In the third track, Robo Soccer League, students competed using manually built robots in football matches, testing mechanical strength and wireless control capabilities.

Projects Focused on Health, Environment, and Safety
The exhibition featured innovative projects including smart wheelchairs, AI-based urban rainfall detection systems, fire and gas detection and alert systems, flood detection and alert systems, underground water surface monitoring systems, air quality monitoring and filtration systems, LoRa-based emergency response systems, smart greenhouses, carbon trapping and cascade systems, and sanitary pad dispensers.

Skillsup’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nishchal Pradhan emphasized the need to connect children with AI and Robotics from the school level. He said, “This is the age of technology. Knowledge of AI and Robotics is now essential from school level. Codeavour is our small effort to connect children with technology from an early stage.”

The chief guest of the event was Prof. Dr. Sudan Jha from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Kathmandu University, who was listed among the top 2% scientists of the world in 2025 by Stanford University and Elsevier. Special guest Dr. Sameer Kharel (Human-Centric AI Enthusiast) was also present.

The competition was evaluated by a panel of judges including Sugun Dhungana, CEO of Digital & Beyond; Garry de la Pomerai, Program Director at WEaRE; Deepak Pantha, HOD of Computer Science at Nirmal Secondary School, Damauli; and Prabin Bohara from the National Innovation Center.

Awards Across Various Categories
Students demonstrating excellence in health, environment, agriculture, safety, and social impact were awarded national prizes across 12 categories. Balbatika School received the Innovation in Health Award, Gyanodaya Balbatika received the Robo Care Innovation Award, Kathmandu New Castle School won the Girls in Tech Award, and Rajabas Secondary School received the Green Tech Award. Winners in each category received NPR 6,000 in cash, along with medals and trophies.

In the Wellness Wave AI–Robo Challenge, first place went to Team Oxygen, second to Navodit School, and third to Team Flourine. Cash prizes were NPR 20,000, 15,000, and 10,000 respectively.

In Track 3, Robo Soccer League (Senior), first place went to VSN, second to Vajra School, and third to Asia Pacific School, with cash prizes of NPR 20,000, 15,000, and 10,000 respectively.

Similarly, in Robo Soccer League (Junior), first place went to Laligurans School, second to Balbatika School, and third to Reliance Public School. They received NPR 20,000, 15,000, and 10,000 respectively, and each team member was awarded a medal and trophy.

A total of 35 projects, including these award-winning entries, have been selected to represent Nepal at the Codeavour 7.0 International Competition in Jakarta, Indonesia, on May 16–17, 2026, where students from over 50 countries will participate.

Participating schools included Asia Pacific School, Reliance Public School, Laligurans National Academy, Kathmandu New Castle School, Balbatika School, Budhanilkantha School, Navodit College, St. Joseph’s School, Viratnagar, Gyanodaya Balbatika, Peak Point Academy, Kathmandu Valley School, Pathibhara English School (Morang), Nawa Kiran English School (Sunsari), Aarambha Vidya Mandir, Rajabas Secondary School, Vajra Academy, and B.S. Niketan Higher Secondary School.
