Prime Minister Karki Calls for Resolving Nepal Airlines Corporation’s Challenges

Kathamandu, Prime Minister Sushila Karki has issued a firm directive to the Board of Directors and management of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) to urgently address and resolve the ongoing issues facing the national carrier.

During a meeting at her office, PM Karki emphasized the need to implement expert recommendations to restore NAC’s reputation as a source of national pride. She highlighted three critical areas for improvement: ensuring regular maintenance of aircraft, eliminating financial irregularities, and upholding good governance free from political interference.

Acting Chair Bikram Rai committed to visible reforms, while Acting General Manager Janakraj Kalakheti reported that NAC currently carries an accumulated loss of over Rs 17 billion. Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal and Chief Secretary Eaknarayan Aryal were also present at the meeting, underscoring the government’s focus on revamping the corporation.
