Colorado – The Colorado Newah Khala successfully celebrated ‘Nhu Daya Bhintuna’ (New Year Greetings) for Nepal Sambat 1146 with a grand program held today at the Nepali Ghar.

The special ceremony in Colorado commenced with a traditional Sukunda Rally parade, adding a unique vibrancy to the event. The program was graced by the presence of Mount Everest Summiteer Rohit Shrestha as the Chief Guest, and Boulder County Commissioner Marta Loachamin as the Special Guest. Following the seating of the guests, Chief Guest Rohit Shrestha was formally introduced.

The program officially began with the playing of the Nepali and American National Anthems. Newah Khala President Bhushan Shrestha and Sharmila Pradhan honored the Chief Guest Rohit Shrestha and Special Guest Marta Loachamin by presenting them with badges and khada (ceremonial scarves).

The organization’s former president, Prem Kaji Shrestha, delivered the welcome speech, extending ‘Nhu Daya Bhintuna’ (New Year Greetings) to all attendees. Immediately after, the formal inauguration of the program took place as Chief Guest Rohit Shrestha and Special Guest Marta Loachamin jointly lit the ceremonial lamp.

Certificates were distributed to individuals for their contributions in various fields. Volunteers for Indrajatra, sponsors, contributors, and lifetime members received certificates from Chief Guest Rohit Shrestha, Bhushan Shrestha, Narayan Shrestha, Prem Kaji Shrestha, and Marta Loachamin.

The Colorado Newah Khala: Centenarian Satya Mohan Joshi Award (Sirpa) was presented to singer Hiranya Bhojpure for his long-standing contributions to Nepali literature, culture, and social service. Additionally, the Colorado Newah Khala: Nepal Sambat Promoter Shankhadhar Sakhwa Award (Sirpa) was presented to the Colorado Sister Group. President Shanti Bhusal accepted the award on their behalf.

Video messages from Nepal were broadcast, featuring Prem Nira Tuladhar, Chairman of the Nepal Samvat Celebration Committee, and Kesharman Tamrakar, Executive Vice President of the World Newah Organization (WNO) America Chapter.

During the exchange of New Year greetings, representatives from various organizations and social workers delivered their remarks. Speakers included social worker and entrepreneur Narayan Shrestha, President of Rocky Mountain Friends of Nepal Aakriti Rai, President of NRN Colorado Chapter Chandra Gurung, litterateur and social worker Dr. Vijay Raj Sharma, Vice President of Nepali Ghar Ganga Chaulagain, and Chairman of the International Nepali Literary Society (INLS) Board of Trustees Padam Bishwokarma. Chairman Bishwokarma also informed the audience about the upcoming INLS International Conference to be held in Colorado from May 22-25.

The cultural segment, following the greetings, featured Guru Gajendra playing a traditional musical instrument, and Alisa, Smriti, and Faiza Maga performing a dance titled ‘Juice Maya’.

Chief Guest Rohit Shrestha, in his address, thanked the Colorado Newah Khala for organizing such a successful program. The event concluded with the presentation of a Token of Love to the Chief Guest Rohit Shrestha and Special Guest Marta Loachamin.

Finally, Manoj Tuladhar delivered the vote of thanks to all attendees. The program was skillfully emceed by Sabita Shrestha.
